I was born in beautiful Mendocino County California. Growing up in a rural area I developed an appreciation of the natural world. I was also greatly influenced by my parents who would take my brother and I on camping trips every summer. My father is a retired wildlife biologist and I believe his passion for the outdoors rubbed off on me as well.

I began taking photos in 2003 and from the start my main focus was nature photography. However, I did a lot of experimentation with other subjects as well while I developed my photographic style. At first it was just something I did for fun but eventually evolved into a passion. I started taking it very seriously and in mid 2006 I made the switch to digital which is when I purchased my first digital SLR camera the Canon EOS 30D (I now shoot with the 40D). Without the limitations of film I was free to take as many photos as I pleased. I found myself more passionate about my photography than ever before and was going on photo outings much more frequently. I improved very quickly and within a year began to really develop more of a focus and personal style to my photos.

I moved to Portland, Oregon Early in 2008 and have loved it so far. There are so many beautiful places in Oregon and I have only just begun to explore it. Despite being here only a short period of time over half the photos in my gallery were taken in Oregon (the rest were California) and I feel I have taken some of my best just in the last year.

Thank you for taking the time to view my website and gallery. Please come back in the future as I am taking more photos all the time.
